1. Set Weekly Goals!
While it may be able to say that you're going to take it one day at a time, the best thing to do is making sure each "day at a time" is geared toward something SPECIFIC! Set your intentions for the short term with a one week goal, and for the course of the challenge with an 8 week goal. This can be a weight loss goal, clothes size, eating habit change, anything about yourself that you would like to see improve over the next 8 weeks.
2. Document Everything
Once you set your goals, you'll need to make sure that you're keeping track of your progress! Maybe you purchase one of those workout and diet logs (GNC sells a really good one for $15) or maybe you create your own little folder to keep track. Take pictures, chart your weight and measurements, write down what you ate, what you did in the gym, etc. The only thing MORE important than GETTING IT DONE is KNOWING WHAT YOU DID!
3. I Think I Can, I Think I Can....
You know the saying. Tell it to yourself NOW so that when the day comes when you think to yourself "this is hard, I can't do this" or "ugh I don't feel like going to the gym today" or "DAMN I REALLY WANT THAT PLATE OF CHEESE FRIES" you have a mantra to pull you through. The challenges that you'll face will all be mental so you need to get in correct mindset BEFORE you're whached with one of them!
4. Reach Out if You Need To!
This is a group effort y'all. We need to have each other's backs and be supportive, even if we all know that Jenn Turner is gonna win this. :) I encourage all of you to add each other on facebook! Someone's early morning post may be just what you need to get you going for the day!
Does anyone have anything to add to this? Leave some comments!
Jenn
Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or an hour, or a day, or a year, but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. If I quit, however, it lasts forever. --Lance Armstrong
:) Great points!
ReplyDeleteLove the gym at 5:30 am....NOT! But it is necessary if I'm going to win. My ass and legs are on FIYA :)
ReplyDeleteKathleen I totally prefer it! If its not the first thing I do in the morning, there's a 98% chance that I won't go at all that day!
